Welcome Message
Welcome to the TRB 2021 Automated Road Transportation Symposium (ARTS21)!
We’re excited to celebrate our 10th TRB summer symposia on automated vehicle systems! This year, ARTS21 will be an entirely virtual event, live-streamed over four days – July 12th-15th.
Our agenda includes over 450 industry, research, and policy leaders in 12 hours of Plenaries and 31 deep-dive Breakout Sessions. As always, we’re focused on conversations, not just presentations, so the Symposium is designed to help you collaborate with global colleagues to tackle some of today’s toughest industry topics, including safety assurance, business developments, roadway operations, human factors, public acceptance, trucking, transit, legislative and regulatory affairs, and more.
We’ve added a “Virtual Hallway” which will be available in parallel with the Plenary sessions. Now you have a place to “step out” and chat with speakers following the close of their Plenary talk or panels. We’ll announce the availability of specific speakers from the Plenary stage, or you can stop in for networking conversations anytime during open hours.
We are grateful to our Patrons, listed below, and to all the TRB committee members and friends who have helped make this Symposium possible. In particular, our heartfelt thanks go to the outstanding team of ~200 volunteers, automated vehicles experts in their own right, who contributed to producing ARTS21 – we couldn’t have done it without you!
Thank you to Springer Publications for making “Lecture Notes in Mobility: Road Vehicle Automation 8,” edited by Gereon Meyer and Sven Beiker, available free of charge to ARTS21 registrants. Please click this link [password RVA8SpringerBook] for the digital edition. (The free access for the Symposium participants has been granted for four weeks).
Last, but not least, we want to thank each of you for attending. The insights and expertise that automated road transportation professionals like you bring to the conversation each year have consistently helped to move the industry forward. We look forward to collaborating with you this week.
Do you have suggestions or questions? Please remember to fill out the post-symposium conference survey and let us know what we can do to maintain ARTS as the premier symposium for automated road transportation.
